The chosen imagery derives from Alfredo's interest
in plants and soil sciences; revealed through colored
layers and the scratching and scraping away of the surface.
The work is a reflection of Alfredo's childhood memories
and the dichotomous engagement of tropical island urbanism
and small-town America.
His paintings are influenced by Matisse, Paul Klee,
and the German Expressionist. Alfredo's work has been
exhibited thoughout the US, Chile and the Dominican
Republic.
Alfredo Lorenzo was born in the Dominican Republic.
He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design
and resides in Rhode Island.
